I have what I believe is a 1914 Conn Naked Lady Alto Saxophone, in the original Conn case. It has been in my family for some time, and was sold to my grandparents 40 years ago or something like that, by a musician in Oregon. I am still trying t get his name, but I do know that he was well known in the area. Anybody got any input on this one. I will try to post a pic.

It has the date Dec 8 1914 engrave on the back of the instrument. Also has #1119954 under the date and PAT APP'D FOR M246303, with an A above it and a T below it.
Has Made By CG Conn Ltd Elkhart-Ind. USA engraved on it as well.

This is a "transitional" sax that was made in about 1931. This era in Conn's history produced a lot af variations on the New Wonder horns and the coming of the "Naked Lady" saxess. These are in great demand by collectors and players alike, and this one is part of the M series horns. The A above ususally implies that it's an alto, but the T below indicates Tenor. A bit confusing, but.. If the bottom letter were actually an "L" in would stand for Low Pitch.

Nater perhaps the appraisal site here http://www.saxgourmet.com/ VINTAGE_SAXOPHONE_VALUE_GUIDE.htm

may hold some information on your naked lady sax.

it says:

"....The 6M alto; 10M tenor;... are the famous "naked lady" horns... Alto 6M $ 2000

At ebay there's a naked lady up for this bid: http://cgi.ebay.com/Antique-CG-Conn-Alto-Saxophone-Sax- 26M-Naked-Lady- 1914_W0QQitemZ190320443989QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_Default Domain_0?hash=item2c4ffb8255&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14& _trkparms=65%3A12|66%3A2|39%3A1|72%3A1205|293%3A1|294%3A50

$1358

as you might see values differ quite a bit. have you ever considered paying for a certified appraiser?

Hey guys, I was at church tonight, and an elderly lady came up to me and gave me 2 saxes!

As I was trying to research these 2 saxes I came across this website.

The First is a Conn 1914 C-Melody. It is Gold and looks to have the artist engraving as it has engraving from the bell to almost where the octave key is. It is a gorgeous engraving btw. It says on the Bell "Made by G.C. Conn Ltd Elkhart, IN" and on the back it says "PATD, DEC 8TH, 1914. 111954. C. 122061. L

It is in great condition and plays awesome. There are no dents or scratches. There is a little bit of laquer wear, but nothing remotely close to major. When I played it, it sounded great. it had kinda ol school jazz, rock kinda feel.

Would any of ya'll be interested in buying it? I really have no need for it. Please tell me if this is right, From the Sax Gormeut it looks like it is $800 + 20% for gold and 40% for the artist engraving...? which puts it at around $1,280...?

I will be taking it to the shop to get new pads on it and do a new fresh setup tomm.

The Second horn is a BUESCHER ARISTOCRAT Alto Serial 350XXX. This im also willing to sell to anyone interested. But I have a question. I was looking on the Sax Gormet guide, and the worth for the horn said 000 for the alto and 1,200 for the tenor, I presume was a mistype and they meant to say 1,000 for the alto and just forgot the 1, Any thoughts? ... Also, this horn still bears the "True Tone" Label at the bottom of the horn which I was confused by, any thoughts?

I have a 1914 New Wonder that displays the "A" above and the "L" below. Not the Naked Lady, but also December 8, 1914 PATD #111954 gold with Pearl pads. My local music store says that the sax needs about $200 (retail) worth of work for pads, etc. Original case is damaged. Reasonable offers?
