I heard an extended version of this song today with a fine alto solo. Which recording is it and who is the alto player? ;

1976- PETER FRAMPTON 1988 -WILL TO POWER [MEDLEY] 1994- BIG MOUNTAIN

If none of the above, any idea?

There's a live album that came out in 2000, that has the tune on it. No personnel info on the internet, though.

If the version you heard was a reggae style cover it likely was the Big Mountain version with Warren Hill playing alto.
