Lucky you!! How come I never find stuff like this at garage sales? Not sure about its condition because I have not seen it, but unless it was run over by a truck, it's worth a lot more than $75.
In playable condition, it's worth over $1000. Vintage is 1940-1941. Pre-war Conns are the best of 'em. And the 6M alto with the "viii" designation are the best of the 6M's. I think they have an improved neck.
I don't see a lot of 6M's on gigs for some reason. The 6M's tenor brother, the 10M, is still a popular player, though. I have a 1937 myself that is a smokin' horn. But the 6M is a nice horn, and in good condition and good repair they really sing. Just depends on how much of a repair project it is.
