The Martin Committee had a skyline engraved on it. But if it were a Martin, it would say that clearly. Other readable engraving?

VSOP... That's for alcoholic beverages, isn't it??

Other than the serial number, there are no other markings on the horn, or case. V.S.O.P. is a marking for fine Cognac....and was also the title of an album by Herbie Hancock (featuring an all star quintet)

the horn is probably not more than 20 years old, it is identical to my Yani 990, except for the extra support arms on the low c and b pad cups on my Yani.

Interesting that it's similar to your Yani. And it is true that Yanagisawa was BIG into copying Selmers in the 1980's, particularly in the Yani 800 series.

Could be a Vito? Remember that Vitos have been made by LeBlanc, Yanagisawa, and some oddball Chinese company. Maybe it's a Vito from the Yanagisawa era. The USA part has me stumped though.

Have you played it?
