Coltane was so amazing!!!

To all you people out there who dig Trane..especially those lucky ones that knew him, met him, practiced with him...or just saw him play live....Please share with the group any personal Coltrane stories. I am always inspired by his music, but more so moved greatly by some of the stories I have heard and read about the man himself. I guess if I was to have a personal hero or role model ...it would be someone like Trane and also Kenny G!!

See...here is what I'm talking about.....if Trane was around today he would probably tell all of us here to give the G man a break and that all human beings deserve to be treated kindly. I bet Trane would never say a mean thing about good ol Kenny...Oh well...what the hell have I started here.

All kidding aside..since I did not know him...I just assume he was such a warm and loving soul and it was as if with the sheer power of his sound, he wanted to heal the world.

OK.....let's hear those personal stories about Trane.

i recorded and play from time to time with odean pope in phila. he plays with max roach and has his own trio besides the saxophone choir that i play in with him. he knew and hung and played with trane in phila... one story...how he played on his gums while he was waiting for his false teeth to arrive impressed me but all i ever here from anyone here in phila that knew him was what a fine person he was.. a gentle soul.
