circit city

If you are still able to listen the the news, you must have heard that Circuit City, will be closing all of its stores, and thus leaving 34000 employees jobless - this due to the very tough economic times.
The Seattle Weekly’s blog Reverb posted an article with the following

Julie Porter, a publicist at the Concord Music Group, home of artists such as Spyro Gyra, Gerald Albright, Najee, and Boney James, notes in an email to the Weekly that Circuit City “was definitely a key partner and at one time could be as high as 25% of market share for some of our smooth jazz records.” Though that number had been declining recently, she says.

Its a bit like ripples on the water, with the effects growing wider and wider and wider… these artists are going to need to be innovative as to there marketing techniques.

(OMG - I have just noticed the more than weird connection between the name of the source of this story and its topic.)

music

I have been thinking recently about how easy it is to get free music. With the amount filesharing and free download music sites there are, its a wonder that the musicians actually make any money at all of the recordings of there work.
Dr. Jazz from The Jazz Clinic posted his best for 2008 list and did and wrote someting along those lines as well
I quote

I feel very strongly about buying music and encourage others who work in the music industry to do so more often (not only to support the artists, but the labels and almost more importantly, the record stores that allow us a place to go and shop). There are too many hands out these days (especially among industry, “press” and “radio”). It seems like everyone who loves this music wants a free copy. For the actual amount of music being sold today, that’s a travesty.

I couldn’t agree more. The options for buying music are so extensive these days - from downloading (legally) through mail order or for the shopping lovers the good old fashion record store - I would like to start this year off by reminding you to support the artists by buying their music.

No doubt this is where Michael Jackson got his moves :-)

Curtiss Boone - Lil Soul Bros / Mike Douglass Show 2

I know that this is off topic a bit but how could I possibly resist? I found the first video on In Dangerous Rhythm, fell in deep and utter love and went searching for more about these cuter than cute brothers - the only thing I could find was the second video.

Does anyone know anything else about them?
