feel like i'm getting some back pressure when i blow into my alto sax, how do i fix this?

Do you mean the instrument feels stuffy and difficult to blow into? If so, you might try some different reeds, or a different strength. A reed that's not cured completely or too hard can feel stuffy. If the problem persists, you might try a different mouthpiece. Meyer alto pieces are generally free-blowing and easy to play.

ok if you are having difficulty getting sound out and if it sounds muffled, it might be your soft-pallet
