I have a Selmer Alto sax and I need to know where to find the serial #. There are 2 #'s on it. One is on the base of the neck and the other # is engraved on the bell. I think it is authentic and I want to see which one it is and what year it was made.

you have 2 serial numbers because for awhile, selmer put the serial number for their horns in both places so that you would know you had the original neck that was matched with the horn at the factory when it was built. If the number on the neck matches the number on the body of the instrument, it is the original neck. If not, it was purchased as a replacement neck for the original and you have the neck from one horn and the body of a different horn. The number on the neck will let you know what year it was fabricated by matching it with the serial numbers on the alto list, and the number on the body will let you know what year the body was fabricated.
