Joshua Redman

Joshua Redman who is rare not only in his playing abilities but also in his ethnicity - (Both African American and Jewish American) Is a relatively young Sax player (only 39), he is the son of Dewey Redman who is a jazz saxophonist himself.
Redman won the Thelonious Monk International Jazz Saxophone competition, in 1991, the year that he graduated from Harvard.
He started out his career playing on hes Fathers record choices, but lead the second album - Wishes, where he was joined the likes of Pat Metheny, Charlie Haden nd Billy Higgins. After working with various quartets until he formed a new trio - Elastic with Keyboardist Sam Yahel and drummer Brian Blade.
