I think Bob Wilber uses a curved Martin..

I've never played a curved , but I have a straight Martin and _that_ is a killin' axe ; it's the best soprano I've played ever .

I'd try to buy it from the Univ. if I were you. Straight horns in original plating go for $1200 + thru the vintage dealers when they do show up(they seem to be less plentiful than the Conns,Bueschers...)

I saw a curved Martin in a music store , but wasn't hip to them at the time , and someone had already told me that the old curved sops. were next to impossible to play in tune ... not true .

That Martin probably needs to be adjusted and the ''right'' mpc. found for it . Offer them $ 400. for it and say you'd like to 'play around with it at home '(wink)

Good Luck with it ! dave williams
