Sad news indeed and the end of an era.
The Portland Jazz festival exists no more. Operations and planning for the 2009 festival scheduled to take place in Febuary were stopped since the sponsers pulled out, and others could not be found to full their place, even with the the 09 festival planned to be a celebration of the 70th aniversery of Bloe Note Records.

The 2008 Portland Jazz Festival had presented 150 separate events over the ten-day February period with total attendance at 36,000, and through the festival’s cultural tourism promotion accounted for nearly 2,000 hotel room nights sold. Both attendance, as well as economic impact for the City of Portland the related tourism industry, had increased steadily each year since 2004
