I am think of buying a selmer series III saxophone and was hoping for some feedback from this knowledgeable news group.

I have been playing for just a year and have the spare cash to get one. I have been playing a Jupiter student model and have realised that it will not turn into a phase I was going through (I am also 43 years old) have learnt my lessons from past hobbies over the years.

Thanks for your time

This is a top-quality professional saxophone, you should be very happy with it.

Other current saxes of comparable quality include the Selver Series II, Yanagisawa 990/991 series, Yamaha models 62 and Custom 875, and Keilwerth SX90. I'd recommend trying several before buying; everybody seems to develop their own perference.

I personally feel that Yanagisawa is making the best horn for the money, but your mileage may vary!
