Pro model vs. Student model:
1. Bigger tax write-off with the pro model (if you're a pro).
2. Pro model will have higher resale value (view as investment).
3. Pro model will last long...
2nd that motion. In fact, I'll jump om Yamaha specifically. Of all the 'student' horns on the market, they are the ONLY ones that I have seen in the hands of traveling pros (who appreci...
I believe Matt meant to say you CANT go wrong with Yamaha. They make excellent student saxes. Vito also makes a nice student saxophone.

Hi. I am looking for a good condition tenor sax that is above student level. I am a high school student so I do not have much money to spend. I would also need to try the saxophone before I bought it....
It's a student horn. Would you have a chance to try it before buying? "Very good shape" is kind of hard to pin down. Might mean that there are no major dents, but the pads might be bad ...
The best student horn, and many people feel this way, is the Yamaha YAS23. It is well made, plays nicely in tune, and sounds quite good. I'm not that familiar with the Selmer Omega, but the Selme...
They're a very good student horn for the price. Build quality is pretty good for a Taiwanese horn - but like most student instruments they benefit from a proper setup ( this isn't always don...

Do your daughter a favor and get a new student model sax, a Conn, a Selmer America, whatever. It will look good and play good. A vintage sax will likely look bad and has got to be a crapshoot in terms...

The Bundy is the most-quickly-outgrown sax there is. I find them to be suitable for a 1st year student who may not go into a 2nd year. If the student survives the 2nd year and starts a 3rd, it's ...
it is said to be student horn, should not therefore be too expensive
...lder joints pop off. Sometimes people bring in the pro line and they tend to have the same problems as the student line. It seems to me that Jupiter uses fancy finishes and whatnot to sell thier horns...
How much is my vito alto sax worth? I don't know if it is a student version. The only defining mark would be a small engraving "JAPAN 069324".
these are considered student saxes of rather poor qaulity
... me...true, they weren't very user-friendly (I had one for almost 20 years), but it was definitely no student horn...
eee-yuuuw , Gross.... What an awful thing to do to a student
The newest Yamaha is the YAS275 (not the YAS25). The 275 is altogether better made than most 'student' saxes, and has had good reviews.
It's a 'student' sax, but I have seen traveling pros using it. The sound was good and it takes the punishment of being on the road well.
You might check out www.saxophone.com A student of mine got a nice tenor for $1100 so I'm sure the alto would be less.
just look at what kind of prices are being asked for on ebay, i had a yamaha student model which was about 5-6 years old and i sold it four about $400
