Hello a.m.s.ers,

I'd like to draw on your collective wisdom and experience for this one.

I am in the process of putting together a major purchase request at my school's music library for printed saxophone quartet music (also other ensembles involving saxophone). I have some idea of the 'key' pieces in the repetoire, but I need many more suggestions. The goal is to build a solid and comprehensive library of quartet and saxophone-involving ensemble music.

What I would like to hear from all of you are which works you think are most appropriate for this kind of library. We're kind of starting from scratch (all the library has is the Glasunov Quartet).

Thanks in advance for your help

Jordan,

How easy or hard of music do you wish to collect for your school's library? Would this be for MIT (drawing from your email address)?

Richard, you are correct about the school. I am looking for music at the intermediate level and above, avoiding transcriptions unless they are of very high quality.

I have looked at classicsax.com before and it has a nice selection. Thank you to the other posters for your recommendations.
